I fully understand that calories
matter when it comes to losing weight. I'm a 35 year old female who
needs to lose 50 pounds. The thought of counting carbs or calories is
disturbing to me but I feel it's the only way to lose weight. What's
your opinion?

You are correct! Losing weight
happens by burning more calories than you take in. Whether you keep
track of calories or not, your body will count the calories. It takes a
deficit of 3500 calories to lose 1 pound of fat.
To make the process of counting
calories easier, plan each meal. You can buy a calorie counter book in
most bookstores or supermarkets for a few dollars. We suggest that you
become familiar with the calorie value of foods you like to eat. There's

Write down each food item for
the day and plan between 1200 and 1400 calories per day. Men should plan
between 1500 and 1800 calories per day depending on age and activity
level.
