I need to lose 20
pounds quickly. I know that crash
dieting is unhealthy but how else can I
lose weight quickly? Can you give me a
tip on what I should do?

You are right, crash
dieting is not an effective way to lose
weight and it's very unhealthy. Crash
dieting for women is any diet that's 900
calories or less. Liquid diets are
popular crash diets. Also diets that use
shakes or candy bars as meal
replacements for breakfast, lunch and
dinner. Some crash dieting programs
allow you to eat a very light meal for
dinner.
The best tip for
losing weight is to control your
calories. Eating regular food is much
better than meal replacement shakes. The
average size women should stay within
1200 - 1400 calories to lose 1 or 2
pounds per week. The average size male
should stay within 1500 - 1900 calories
to lose the same amount of weight.
Portion control and
planning is the key to successful
dieting. Write down your meal plan for
the day and include portion size and
calorie value next to each food item.
Eat 3 to 4 times a day. You can plan 300
calories each meal for 4 meals or 400
calories for 3 meals or any combination
to stay within your calorie range.
Starving yourself to
lose weight is a very unhealthy dieting
practice. Eating smaller but regularly
scheduled meals will keep you from
overeating and help you lose weight each
and every week. Include foods that are
low fat and high fiber. Poultry such as
chicken or turkey is lean meat for
dieting. If you like fish (many people
don't) include fish in your diet plan.
You can also include lean beef.
Steam cook your
veggies if possible or stir fry meats
and vegetables in a hot skillet that's
lightly oiled. Yogurt and breakfast
cereal are great in the morning.
Sandwiches, salads, soups and plenty of
water make a good lunch. Low fat dinner
recipes, frozen food entrees such as
Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice make a
quick, low calorie dinner. Spaghetti,
baked chicken, veggies and stir fry make
a great low calorie, dieting dinner.
