Walking to Lose Weight Can be Fun

 

Walking is important to a successful weight loss program because it causes you to burn more calories. To lose weight, you must burn more calories than you take in and a good diet program combined with walking will help you do that.  Below are helpful tips:

  • Walk at a Fast Pace

To maximize the fat burning potential from walking, you must get your heart rate at a target rate that will produce the best result. This rate is normally between 60% and 70% of your maximum heart rate.  This is accomplished by walking fast enough so that you can hold a conversation but can't sing.

  •     Consistency is the Key

Walking 30 to 40 minutes a day a minimum of 4 days per week is required to increase the rate of fat burn and help you lose weight.  Walking every day would be better but 4 days per week is the minimum.

  •    Walking Can be Fun

Include your dog when you walk. Dogs love to walk and they make great walking companions. Once they get use to walking everyday, they will remind you of your special time together (the walk)

  •  Combine Walking with a Good Diet Plan         

Walking alone may not cause you to lose weight. Combine your daily walk with a good diet that’s calorie restrictive but sensible, and you’ll be on your way to becoming a trim and fit person.
