Weightloss Tips to Help You Lose Weight

Weightloss Tips  #1

It's Impossible to Lose Weight if You Snack Late at Night

Your body processes food after dark the same way it does early in the day. The problem, is the type of food we tend to eat late at night. Most people eat high calorie snacks like chocolate, chips, cheese and soda while watching TV. Weightloss becomes very difficult if you make a habit of eating these high calorie snacks. However, you can still lose weight by eating a light, low calorie snack late at night if you know what to eat.

If you must snack at night, find nutritious, low calorie snacks. Below are a few suggestions:

  • Chilled / slice fruits (melons, strawberries, orange, apple)

  • Applesauce / jar of baby food

  • Microwave light popcorn (not very nutritious)

  • 1 serving of wheat crackers with light shredded cheese
  • Sliced chicken breast on rice (small serving)

  • Baby carrots or slice celery dipped in light ranch dressing

  • Fat free / light hot dog on Roman Meal wheat bun

Weightloss Tips  #2

Hunger and Craving Are The Same

True hunger is a desire or drive to eat to nourish the body. Craving is a preference to certain foods and easily based on emotions. Hunger and craving are NOT the same.

Much of our struggle comes from having a taste for a particular food like chocolate cake or pizza (better know as craving) and has nothing to do with being hungry. Many times we "give in" to the craving as a way to satisfy our taste buds, though we may not be hungry. Recognizing the difference between true hunger and a momentary craving is very important in the battle to lose weight.

How to Deal with Hunger

Eat your portion of a healthy meal. If you eat enough to feel slightly hungry after finishing your meal, then you ate just enough to produce weightloss in due time. Because of the time lag for the stomach to signal your brain that it has enough food, you'll get that satisfying feeling of being "full" 20 minutes later.

How to Deal with Craving

When you have a craving for something high calorie, answer the following questions.

(1) Do you crave the same high calorie treat everyday or just occasionally?

(2) Can you substitute a lower calorie treat?

(3) Have you established a pattern of good eating habits without gorging on fatty treats?

You can lose weight and have that occasional
high calorie treat if you answered the above questions as:

(1) Occasionally
(2) No
(3) Yes

Also, a good diet plan is essential to losing weight. See our personal weightloss diet plan for more assistance on how to lose weight.
